Our sweet Rafting Base in Okere Falls allows for groups to relax and enjoy the area before and after the rafting. We have loads of free off street parking (camper-van and bus friendly) and big grassy area’s with big picnic tables and bean bags to chill on.
It’s in an awesome sunny location that backs onto the shores of the Kaituna River and is surrounded by the scenic reserve which also has the famous Okere Falls walking trails.
In the warmer months we have a Volleyball court set up as well as a marque for shade and BBQ facilities.
We have been safely hosting many school and work groups every year for 30+ years, and are very proud to be hosting the Annual NZ Police association raft races – which has been ongoing every year for the past 10+ years!
We have the ability to take very large groups, including back to back rafting trips, and we can do multiple runs a day. We have an age limit of 13 years or older for the full river Grade 5 section. And we are also able to take 10 to 12 year old’s on the half river, Grade 3 section.

All rafting guides are qualified under the skills active New Zealand raft guide award scheme and all hold current first aid for all staff. We have an extensive Safety Management System audited annually by Adventure Mark (certificate of compliance available). We will also happily provide you with a copy of our RAMS form.

We already work with many high schools around New Zealand & Australia, and would love to help you out with some amazing rafting for your students and be part of your next school camp or outdoor getaway! It’s the perfect activity for students aged 13-18 and being only 2.5 hours round trip, it fits into almost any itinerary!
Our base is very free range kid friendly. We have a large grassy area to throw/kick a ball around, volleyball court, picnic tables and shady tree areas to enjoy a picnic lunch under. Being located right next to the scenic reserve and the Okere Falls walking track lets the kids stretch their legs and watch the rafts tumble over the falls at the viewing platforms.
We have all the paperwork to keep everyone happy and is easily shareable with you, and are Adventure Mark registered and approved.

We have a photographer on hand with each rafting trip that captures all the main drops and exciting spots. After the tour you'll be able to check them out on our big screen TV and if ya love they're available to purchase right away at the front desk. These are available on a digital link via email.
We can offer free shuttle services from within a central Rotorua location, but recommend taking advantage of our free parking and ample space provided at our rafting base for a more relaxing time.
There is heaps of room for Camper vans and Buses to park and or turn around.

Kaituna Cascades was the first rafting company to explore and open up the Kaituna River, letting you experience the amazing deep warm water canyons, and raft the famous seven-metre tall Tutea Falls. We were established in 1991 and today is still locally owned and operated out of Okere Falls, Rotorua, North Island, New Zealand.
This was a great couple bonding experience that took us both to the edge of our comfort zones. Could not speak highly enough of the professionalism of the guiding team - yet making the whole experience one of such fun.
MY FAVOURITE EXPERIENCE IN NZ SO FAR. TOOK THE 9AM TOUR TODAY AND ALREADY CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK. THE RAFTING WAS SO MUCH FUN AND THE TOUR GUIDES ARE HILARIOUS. NEVER FELT IN ANY DANGER JUST ENJOYED THE RIDE! WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY. I WENT AS A SOLO TRAVELLER AND IT WAS STILL REALLY ENJOYABLE.

The guide, Sam, went out of his way to make the trip as fun and exciting as possible. The whole team were friendly and inclusive.
Cole was a really good guide, talked us through everything and had a good laugh. The water was nice, not cold at all. They provide wetsuits, footwear, helmets, life jackets and polo fleeces. Worth the money and would do it again. Recommend going in a group so that you can split the cost of photos.
Unbelievable experience rafting the 7m waterfall this morning! Even more fun when the boat flipped!! Highly recommend! Great fun and great instructors!! Shout out to Pete From the Irish girls.
