Current River Status
The Famous Kaituna River is OPEN with classic great winter rafting conditions.
The flows are high (500’s on the control gates) and normal for this time of the year.
This means the rapids are big, fluffy and fun. The big waterfall is more powerful but slightly less tall and vertical.
We have all the winter gear to keep ya warm, happy & mostly dry on the river!
I had the most amazing time with these guys, from welcome to exit. Eoin was such a great coach and explained everything to keep us safe (+1 for the beautiful... read more Irish accent). Such a thrill, and I would recommend it to everyone! But, enough about Eoin. The river was absolutely wild and definitely not like your typical theme park ride. There is a real danger, yes, but their guidance throughout is amazing. All possible issues and their solutions are discussed on the ground, so there are no surprises; thankfully, they didn't need to practise these in real life. The guides are super knowledgeable of the river and any possible hazards it may present. There is both a separate person in a rescue raft and a photographer on land, who are both super friendly, so we all felt safe as a movie star. Even though it was raining, I felt super warm in their supplied wetsuit. In fact, I only felt cold getting out of it. So, definitely an all-weather adventure. Don't worry about the rain. I'd much rather have some raindrops on me beforehand than drop into the river dry. Recommend 100%!

Thoroughly recommend this company for an amazing adventure on the Kaituna river. Even though I was too nervous to do the waterfall, Blue made me feel very welcome and our... read more guide Rob, went out of his way to ensure I had a great time too. I was able to do the 'youth' version where I got off the raft before the waterfalls, travelled with the photographer (who turned out to be the original founder of the company with a fascinating life story - it was a real privilege to meet you Keith!) and then I jumped back into the river to join in the fun. Swimming the rapids and being dunked under a wave whilst sitting at the front of the boat was plenty enough adrenalin surge for me. Thanks to all of the staff and wishing you many more years promoting this wonderful rafting experience.
