This is our back up option when all other rivers are flooded. The Rangitaiki passes through spectacular NZ scenery and Native bush between the Kaiangaroa forest and the beautiful and untouched Te Urewera National Park.
The “Rangi” is the complete rafting package with continuous and hard grade 4 whitewater at the start of the river, with larger rapids like Geoff’s Joy, Fantail Falls, Pop Up, and Tautika getting ya pumped up and holding on tight…

Also please note – This is an exciting grade 4+ rafting experience and is NOT suited for older or bigger people, or people that aren’t comfortable in the water. We have a weight limit of 120 kgs.

There is NO self drive option, as we head into forestry roads.
2 hours of awesome rafting down 11 km’s of whitewater. 5 hours in total including the driving time (an hour each way).
We only run this options when the Kaituna is flooded and unavailable..
Or on demand if water levels are ok & sufficient group size.
Meeting location is “33 Waipa state Mill road – Rotorua” or we can pick you up from your central Rotorua accommodation.

We drive an hour South East towards “Murupara” & into the bush.
Grade 5 rafting trip 13+ years – Grade 3 option available for 10 – 12 year olds “Youth” option. NOT SUITABLE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN or THOSE WITH HEART CONDITIONS. MAXIMUN WEIGHT is 120kgs – must be fit and healthy.
The most entertaining & fun guides to be on the river with (and safest.), custom built rafts, wet suits, helmets, life jackets, paddles, warm fleece tops, wet suit booties and splash jackets.
Swimwear, Shorts & a sense of adventure! We are GoPro friendly so feel free to bring yours along with a chest harness attachment. We also rent towels for $5, GoPro strap rental – $5, And you can buy Glasser straps to keep for $5. Please bring food and drinks for the ride home as it’s a long tour and you’ll be hungry afterwards.

Yes, our Rangitaiki River rafting is a Grade 4 wilderness white water trip, and Grade 4 means turbulent water that needs strong boat handling, with waves that can be hard to avoid.
The Rangitaiki River is the river itself, and Rangitaiki River rafting is our guided rafting trip on that river.
You can join our Rangitaiki rafting trip with no prior experience, but you must be fit, comfortable in the water, and within our safety limits.

Fitness: fit and healthy, with a reasonable level of fitness
Water confidence: not suitable if you are not comfortable in the water
