So you’ve booked your rafting session and you are counting down the days until it happens! But you are not entirely sure how to prepare yourself for the day, and what you should and shouldn’t bring with you. As rafting experts, we have compiled a list of some of the must-have items for your NZ rafting experience, as well as what you can leave at home.
Bring your bathing suit as well as clothing that dries quickly, such as sportswear. You are going to get wet (head to toe), so you want to be comfortable and not wear heavy, wet clothes during and after rafting.
It is important to choose the right type of footwear for this day’s adventure. Waterproof, comfortable shoes would be best.
If it’s a sunny day, you want to bring along sunscreen to protect your skin from potentially harmful UV rays.
If you decide to bring along any type of camera, a GoPro with a chest harness is the way to go. Whatever you do, don’t take a digital camera that is not waterproof on the raft with you.
A towel will definitely come in handy when it is time to dry off after the session.
Cotton clothing gets extremely heavy when wet, so avoid wearing this fabric on the day. There are many more suitable options available.
There is always the chance that you could lose your valuables or jewellery while rafting, so be sure to leave those at home.
