If you’re planning on joining us for a good time with some white water rafting in Rotorua, then there are a few basic preparations to remember and things that you should bring with you to ensure that you have the best experience possible.
Let us take a look at what some of those things are:
Clothing
All you’ll need to bring for your rafting trip is your swimwear and a towel.
We literally have the rest of the gear for you including
– Wetsuits & wetsuit booties, a fleece top to keep you warm or to keep the sun off during the summer (Natural cotton shirts tend to soak up water quickly, becoming heavy and cold, which can make your white water rafting trip a little uncomfortable)
If you want to bring your own thermal layers – Polypropylene, merino or synthetic shirts, on the other hand, do not absorb water and dry quickly, resulting in a more comfortable and less chilly ride.
The same goes for the rest of your clothes. Wear a bathing suit instead of regular underwear, along with swimming trunks rather than something like cotton pants or jeans. You will be much more comfortable throughout the day.
Footwear
We provide footwear – but if you would like to bring your own water shoes then go for it ! A pair of sturdy lightweight sneakers or strap-on sandals are recommended.
Headwear
Don’t bring sunglasses as they will get lost and there is no sun deep in the main canyons. If you do bring glasses of any kind, make sure that they are firmly secured around your neck with eyewear retainers or straps. Contact lenses are recommended.
It is not a good idea to bring a hat, as it will probably get lost in the river. Besides, you will be provided with a helmet anyway, which prevents you from being able to wear a hat.
Other Protection
When spending time out on the water in the sun, you should always make sure to bring sunscreen and possibly lip balm as well to ensure that you don’t burn or suffer discomfort during the ride.
Medication
Please bring along any medications to keep you going and happy for the duration of the rafting tour.
Other stuff
Also feel free to bring along a Go pro and a chest harness to attach it
And maybe some cash to buy the professional photos
Afterwards
Remember to pack a towel, dry clothes and a wet bag for your soaked clothing. After your rafting trip, you will want to get into dry, comfy clothes so that you can relax and relish the feeling of having conquered the river.
